Recipient of a 2020 International Photo Award, Team Cayo Hueso documents my return to a small gimnasio in the Cayo Hueso neighborhood of Havana I first visited in 2018. As I observed the young boxers training for a local tournament, I came to see the gimnasio as a microcosm of life in Cayo Hueso: dilapidated facilities held together by resourcefulness and family bonds that are uniquely Cuban.
